Overview of EMT, AEMT, & Paramedic Programs

In summary, our programs are a combination of:

  • online based courses and exams
  • weekly live chat room learning sessions
  • in person hands-on skills training with an instructor
  • clinical internships at hospital and ambulance service providers

During enrollment in these EMS courses, each student will have an assigned instructor, skill site instructor(s), clinical coordinator and preceptors, and access to our Program Director to ensure that the educational experience you receive is enjoyable and solid quality.

Our EMS course programs are structured in a way to best suit each individual student, and can allow some to complete faster than the allowed maximum time (varies with tuition option). For those who need more time due to slower learning styles or less time availability, those students can add more time to their program for an extra fee of $100 per 30 days.

In the event that a student that finishes early, please be aware that PERCOMOnline cannot issue the Course Completion documentation (needed for official certification) until tuition has been paid in full!

Once the program has been completed, each student will be eligible to sit for the National Registry certification examination for official certification. This process is not included in tuition or enrollment at PERCOMOnline, but we do everything we can to make sure you are ready for this step when the time comes!

CLINICAL INFORMATION

Clinical Network and Scheduling

Students must register for clinical and field rotations for EMT and Paramedic classes at least 30 days prior to attending your first rotation. We can schedule rotations explicitly at officially affiliated hospitals, EMS agencies, and 911 emergency providers within our network. The Clinical Department will handle scheduling your rotations, and it depends on your availability as well as the clinical site availability.

What You Need

You will need to bring a stethoscope, second hand watch, and black, closed toe sturdy foot wear, as well as wear the PERCOM approved clinical uniform. Basically, the uniform consists of a clinical shirt and nametag ID (provided by PERCOM), and black or dark blue EMS uniform pants.

Drug Screening

In addition to clinical registration, a 10-Panel drug screening must be completed within 30 days of your first rotation. Specifically, we use cFirst for drug screening scheduling and processing. If you have additional questions about your drug screening after reviewing the information provided by cfirst.io, then call support at +1-513-898-0646.

Background Check

During the course registration period, each student will complete a criminal history check by cFirst. This background check is what is used during this portion of the program.

Immunization Requirements

At this time, our clinical and field sites require these test and vaccinations to enter their facilities and complete this portion of our program.

Immunization records must include:

  • a negative TB test within 6 months of the start of clinical rotations (or negative chest x-ray if prior positive)
  • Hepatitis B Vaccine complete series
  • MMR (2 sets)
  • meningitis
  • annual flu vaccine
  • tetanus
  • Chicken Pox or proof of having contracted disease
  • Titer Shots are acceptable

Site Request

Above all, PERCOMOnline, Inc. strives to maintain flexibility and quality for our students. For that reason, we allow students to request additions to our clinical or field site network. Our national accredition committee requires each site has a direct review, and consequently governs the approval of all sites. If approved, then PERCOM will attempt to establish the agreement but this process is not automatic or fast.  Sometimes, we cannot approve a site even when the form information is complete and accurate. Since there are no guarantees on site approval, students should attempt this process early in the program if desired.
