Course Prerequisites
To be eligible for entry into our program the applicant must be:
 
18 years of age prior to course completion
Have a High School Diploma or GED
Be currently certified as an EMT Basic (NREMT or State Certification)

Students must take and pass  PERCOM's Online Anatomy and Physiology 101 Course prior to beginning Intermediate Course material (didactic cost of the A&P course is included in the EMT Intermediate/Paramedic Course Tuition, There is no additional fee for the A&P Course).  This requirement may waived for students who provide proof of completion of a college level Human Anatomy and Physiology Course with a "C" or higher.

Obtain and maintain an American Heart Association Healthcare Provider CPR card or its Equivalent

Must be able to read at a minimum Tenth grade level.  Students will be required to take two reading comprehension assessment exams to determine the students reading level and the need for possible remediation.   These tests are located inside of the course and will be taken prior to beginning work on the course material.

Within 30 days of beginning your Hospital or EMS rotations you will be required to pass a Urine Drug Analysis and have current immunizations as required by State Rule. These may be viewed in the STUDENT HANDBOOK (click here to view).

 A criminal background check will be required. These requirements are set by the Clinical Program provider. When you register for your Clinical and Field Rotations, the Prerequisites will be given to you.
